Wound Care EMR
Development of Unified Wound Care EMR Software Application
A wound care group with practices across multiple health systems was looking for a unified Wound Care EMR that would give them access to their patient’s information at all of their locations. The hospitals that the group worked from used multiple disparate EMR’s including Cerner and Epic, but these applications were limited in wound care specific functionality. Customization of each EMR software used at all of the facilities that they operated from to meet their requested feature requirements was an option, but due to the number of different systems involved this would have been an expensive and time consuming option. It would still not have provided a unified view of patient information across all of their health systems and locations.
Softura designed, developed, and deployed a custom web based Wound Care EMR application. The application included a scheduling module that allowed their staff to schedule patients, doctors, and nurses. It also provided a secured patient portal for their customers to access. The cloud based SaaS application provided support to multiple hospitals and allowed one doctor to be associated with and scheduled at multiple locations. The Wound Care EMR has now been rolled out to numerous Hospitals and provides integration with EPIC and Cerner EMRs using HL7 protocol for ADT & MDM. The initial roll-out was done with ICD 9 codes, but since has subsequently been updated to support ICD 10 codes. The application has also been certified for integration with Dr. First for e-prescriptions. The Wound Care EMR is also HIT Meaningful and stage 2 certified.
RESULTS AND BENEFITS
The client received a custom application that provided them the wound care specific functionality that they were looking for and offered a unified patient view across all of their facilities. The software also integrated to all of the different Hospital EMR systems that the facilities hosting their locations were using. The patient portal also provided their patients the ability to securely view their records.
