A wound care group with practices across multiple health systems was looking for a unified Wound Care EMR that provided them access to patient information at all their locations. The hospitals in which the group worked from used multiple disparate EMR’s such as Cerner and Epic, however these applications were limited in wound care specific functionality. To meet their requested feature requirements, customization of each EMR software used at the various facilities they operated from was an option, but due to the number of different systems involved, this would have been an expensive and time-consuming alternative. Still, this option would not have provided a unified view of patient information across all their health systems and locations.
We designed, developed, and deployed a custom web-based Wound Care EMR application. The cloud-based SaaS application provided support to multiple hospitals, allowing doctors to be associated with and scheduled at multiple locations. The Wound Care EMR has now been rolled out to numerous Hospitals and provides integration with EPIC and Cerner EMRs using HL7 protocol for ADT & MDM. The application has also been certified for integration with Dr. First for e-prescriptions, includes a scheduling module where staff can schedule patients, doctors, and nurses, as well as offer a secure patient portal for customers to access.
The client received a custom application that provided them the wound care specific functionality that they were looking for and offered a unified patient view across all their facilities. The software also integrated to all the different Hospital EMR systems that the facilities hosting their locations were using. Additionally, the patient portal has provided their patients the ability to securely view their records.
